She participated in several talent search programs, and obtained her High School Diploma at the magnet school Coral Reef. She was chosen as an intern by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute to work with a Congressman for a semester in Washington D.C. Upon completion, she was granted a fellowship to work with the first Latina Senator to the U.S. Prior to completing her fellowship, she was offered a permanent position as Internship Coordinator and held different titles during her four year stay in the United States Senate.
